The AWM Research Symposium 2022 Poster Session

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) invites graduate students and recent PhD recipients to give a poster presentation at the 2022 AWM Research Symposium at University of Minnesota on June 16 - 19, 2022. This meeting will also feature 3 plenary talks, 3 emerging talent lectures, over 30 special sessions on a wide range of topics in the mathematical sciences, panels of broad interest, a banquet, and opportunities for discussion and networking.

Open to: Graduate students and recent PhD recipients in the mathematical sciences.

Application deadline: April 10, 2022


Funding: AWM has funding provided by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Science Foundation to offer partial support for graduate students selected to present posters. 


Eligibility: Applications are welcome from women and nonbinary mathematicians who have received their PhDs within approximately the last five years and from graduate students who have made substantial progress on their doctoral thesis. Undergraduates and those in their first two years of graduate are also welcome to apply.

All applications should include:


  • Cover letter

  • Curriculum vitae

  • Title and abstract (no more than 1 or 2 paragraphs)

  • a *brief* letter of recommendation from a faculty member or research mathematician who knows the applicant’s research. In particular, a graduate student should have a letter of recommendation from their thesis advisor or one of their graduate school professors.

Late applications and/or recommendation letters cannot be accepted. Decisions on applications are expected to be made by April 30, 2022.
