|The Association for Women in Mathematics invites women who have completed their Ph.D. within the past five years to apply to present research talks in two minisymposia at the AWM Workshop held in conjunction with the 2012 SIAM Annual Meeting. One of the minisymposia will be open to talks from any applied area. Up to four women will be selected to give a talk in this minisymposium. (Note that the other minisymposium will focus on mathematical biology; applicants whose research topic is in the mathematical biology field should apply for that minisymposium.) AWM will offer partial support for travel expenses for presenters. In addition to the recent Ph.D. presentations, the workshop will include poster presentations by graduate students, a mentoring event, and a career minisymposium. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to meet with other women mathematicians at all stages of their careers.
Eligibility: Applications are welcome from women who have completed their Ph.D.s within the past five years. Women with grants or other sources of support are welcome to apply. All non-US citizens must have a current US address.
All applications should include a cover letter, a title of the proposed talk, an abstract (maximum length of 75 words) for the proposed talk, a concise description of research, a curriculum vitae, and at least one letter of recommendation from a faculty member or research mathematician who knows the applicant's work. It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure that recommendations are submitted by Tuesday, November 22, 2011.
