This is the application for TALENT/INT Lectures on "Fundamental Symmetries and Neutrinos"
Dates:  July 9-27, 2018
Institute for Nuclear Theory, University of Washington, Seattle, WA

This 3-week program is intended for theorists who have already completed graduate level courses in quantum mechanics and subatomic physics.
The purpose is to introduce students to the exciting physics of fundamental symmetry tests and neutrino studies in nuclear physics, including implications for both the Standard Model and possible physics beyond the Standard Model.  We strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply.

The TALENT/INT lectures on "Fundamental Symmetries and Neutrinos" is part of the TALENT initiative ("Training in Advanced Low-Energy Nuclear Theory") to develop a graduate program of excellence in low-energy nuclear theory. The program will build a network of strong connections between universities and research laboratories and institutes worldwide, and provide a unique and in-depth training ground for the future needs of nuclear physics.

Room and board will be provided for all accepted participants. Housing will be in double-occupancy university dormitory rooms and meal cards will cover 2 meals per day on campus. Travel costs cannot be covered.

Before you begin the application process, please have the following items and information ready as you will be asked to enter the information before you can complete your application.
  • Cover letter:  A one-page description of academic and research achievements and your motivation for participating in this TALENT course.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • The name and email address of your supervising professor who will provide a letter of recommendation.  The system will send an email request to your reference, asking them to upload a letter of recommendation.  Please let your professor know in advance that the email will come from "", so that they do not think it is spam.
When you have those items ready, click on the "Apply" link above.
  • You will first need to complete the "Standard Coversheet" where you will enter your contact information and the name and email address of your reference. Please fill in all fields with a red asterisk. If fields without an asterisk seem irrelevant or confusing, leave them blank.
  • After you have submitted your "Standard Coversheet", you will be directed to our specific application page to answer additional questions, activate your reference letter request, and upload your cover letter and curriculum vitae. When you have successfully submitted the application page, you should receive an email from the system.
To receive full consideration, submit your application by March 15, 2018 (midnight EST).
We expect to make decisions by April 2, 2018.  Accepted participants will receive an invitation by email from the Institute for Nuclear Theory.
