AWM and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) established the annual Sonia Kovalevsky Lecture to highlight significant contributions of women to applied or computational mathematics. In 2027, the lecture will take place at the 11th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM 2027) in The Hague, Netherlands, July 12-16. The lectureship may be awarded to anyone in the scientific or engineering community whose work highlights the achievements of women in applied or computational mathematics.By agreement, AWM and SIAM pay for the winner's expenses to travel to the meeting and also local expenses.
Nominations for this award are solicited. Nominations will remain active for a total of two years (one year beyond the initial nomination).
NOMINATION PACKET
Nominations for this award should be compiled into a single PDF file and include the following:
- A letter of nomination that
- outlines the nominee's contributions to applied or computational mathematics, and
- provides a list of some of her most important research papers;
- A citation of about 100 words that may be read when introducing the speaker;
- A curriculum Vitae of the candidate not to exceed three pages.
