program Description
UNDERGRADUATES who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions work in small groups under the direction of a faculty mentor for ten weeks on a research project. Local housing for the ten weeks of the program and a $7,000 stipend are supplied, as well as full use of university facilities and travel expenses. Program dates are: May 21 - July 30, 2025. Project titles and faculty mentors: Project 1: Optimizing the Distribution of Fruiting Agave on Bat-Friendly Tequila Plantations (Dr. Alex Capaldi) Project 2: Exploring Network-Based Neural Architectures and Data-Driven Methods for Advanced Community Detection in Complex Networks (Dr. Behnaz Moradi-Jamei) Project 3: Representation Varieties and the Topology of Three-Manifolds (Dr. David Duncan) Project 4: The Dimension-Free L'vov Kaplansky Conjecture (Dr. Meric Augat) See http://www.jmu.edu/mathstat/reu/ for project descriptions.Application Materials Required:
