The Department of Mathematics at Lehigh University is organizing a summer school on Stochastic Methods and Computation on July 10-21, 2023. More information can be found here. This summer program aims at introducing to undergraduate and junior graduate students stochastic methods that are popularly used in various fields of studies. The 2-week program consists of four mini-courses that cover a wide range of topics in probability theory, optimization, and differential equations, emphasizing both the theoretical developments and their applications in complex systems, social networks, and computational mechanics. The four mini-courses are
During the workshop, two lectures are offered every morning (9-10:15am and 10:45am-12pm). In the afternoons (1:30-3:30pm), there will be problem sessions or group discussions led by graduate assistants or the instructor(s). Students are expected to attend both the morning lectures and the afternoon sessions. Upon completing the program, students will receive a certificate of participation issued by the Department of Mathematics at Lehigh University. Financial support is available to assist travel, lodging, and food expenses. While priority will be given to undergraduate students, women, and underrepresented minorities, we also encourage junior graduate students to apply. To Apply: Applicants should submit a brief CV and a short cover letter that describe their relevant background and their interests in the summer school. Please also arrange a letter of recommendation in order to be considered for financial support. Applications received before May 31, 2023 will guarantee full considerations.
