program Description

The summer school on dynamical systems will take place from June 20–June 30, on the Evanston campus of Northwestern University. 

The first week (June 20– June 24) will feature some preparatory courses, including courses appropriate for advanced undergraduates.   (Undergraduates should have background in real analysis and abstract algebra). The second week (June 26–June 30) will continue from the first week adding some more advanced courses. Planned topics for mini-courses include: 

  • effective equidistribution in unipotent dynamics, 
  • Kakutani equivalence and time change rigidity for unipotent flows, 
  • superrigidity and arithmeticity, 
  • flexibility in dynamical systems, 
  • invariant and stationary random subgroups.
Planned speakers for mini-courses include Alena Erchenko, Mikolaj Fraczyk, Nicholas Miller, Amir Mohammadi, Daren Wei, and Kurt Vinhage.  

Preference for funding will be given to those who apply before March 15.  Please note that there is limited funding for participants who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
