Lafayette's 2023 REU program is an intensive eight-week summer research experience, with an additional week spent preparing for and participating in a national conference. Through close mentorship with their faculty advisors, small student research groups will investigate open problems in mathematics and statistics and share their work in the form of articles, posters, and presentations. The summer program will run from June 5 to July 28, 2023. Students will then participate in the Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Francisco (January 3-6, 2024). For many additional details about the program, including full descriptions of the three research areas (Agent Based Models, Soliton Theory, and Orderings of Point Sets) please visit: https://math.lafayette.edu/opportunities/reu/ If one of the three research group descriptions sounds exciting, we encourage you to submit an application! Please note your first, second, and third program choices in your cover letter. In your personal statement, explain your motivation for wanting to participate in the Lafayette REU. First-generation college students and students from underrepresented groups or institutions without a strong undergraduate research program are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed beginning March 1, 2023. |
