The Association for Women in Mathematics invites women who have completed their Ph.D. within the past five years to apply to present research talks at the AWM Workshop held in conjunction with the 2013 Joint Mathematics Meetings. This year the workshop talks will focus on number theory. Candidates who are selected will join senior women in a special session on number theory where they will give 20-minute talks. AWM will offer partial support for travel expenses for presenters. In addition to the recent Ph.D. presentations, the workshop will include poster presentations (in all fields of mathematics) by graduate students and a luncheon. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to meet with other women mathematicians at all stages of their careers.

Eligibility: Applications are welcome from women who have completed their Ph.D.s within the past five years and are working in the area of number theory. Women with grants or other sources of support are welcome to apply. All non-US citizens must have a current US address.

All applications should include a title of the proposed talk (maximum length of 200 characters), an abstract (maximum length of 1300 characters) for the proposed talk, a curriculum vitae, and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member or research mathematician who knows the applicant’s work.

If you are not selected to present in the AWM Workshop, do you want to give a shorter version of your talk at the Joint Mathematics Meetings? Yes or No response should be included on your Title and Abstract Upload as part of your application.

Title and Abstract to AMS In addition to submitting your title and abstract to AWM, you must also submit it to the AMS. Their abstract submission page is at Click on “Submit an Abstract for the Joint Mathematics Meetings”, then indicate the number of authors and click on "New Abstract". On the next screen, go to "Select an Event". Choose AWM PRES – AWM Workshop on Number Theory

It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure that letter of recommendation is submitted by August 15, 2012.
