Program Description:    

An REU program "Modern topics in pure and applied mathematics" will be held at the University of Maryland in Summers 2022, 2023, and 2024. The REU information is found on the website: The following two projects will be offered in Summer 2022:

Project 1. Mathematical modeling in material science with the emphasis on classical and quantum mechanics: Faculty leader: Prof. D. Margetis

Project 2. Machine learning methods for the study of rare events in stochastic systems: Faculty leader: Prof. M. Cameron
