Research topics include, but are not limited to, graph theory, combinatorial geometry, combinatorial game theory, partition theory and algebraic combinatorics.

Participants will receive 1) a stipend of 6300US, distributed over nine (9) months, 2) support to travel to a regional or national conference, and 3) an opportunity to enroll in credit-bearing courses at York College. Participants are expected to dedicate 8-12 hours a week to the program.

Application materials include a cover letter, two (2) reference letters, a personal statement detailing your interest in mathematics and your future goals, and an unofficial transcript.

This program is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Applicants must (1) have U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residency and (2) must be enrolled at least part-time in a degree-granting undergraduate program to be eligible for NSF funding. Applicants who do not meet those requirements can still participate if accepted, but without funding.

QED will pay special attention to applicants who identify as members of groups who have traditionally underrepresented in research activities. Specifically, community college students, first-generation college goers, students with disabilities, women and gender non-conforming individuals, and members of underrepresented racialized and minoritized groups (including those who identify as Black/African-American, Hispanic/Latina/o/x, First Nations/Indigenous), are encouraged to apply.
