program Description

The 2025 Mathematical Congress of the Americas (MCA 2025) will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Miami, USA, July 21-25, 2025, and will bring together researchers from across the Americas to celebrate recent mathematical achievements and develop new collaborations.

Thanks to generous support from the American Mathematical Society and other sponsors throughout the Americas, participants in MCA 2025 who are based in countries located within the Americas, but outside the US and Canada, may apply here for funding to help defray expenses associated with attending the meeting. Other funding opportunities, including those for participants from the US and Canada, are listed on the meeting webpage.

Applications from individuals who are organizing or speaking in a special session and who have limited access to other sources of travel funding will receive priority. Early career researchers, women, and members of underrepresented minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Review of applications will begin on September 9, 2024, and those applying by September 8, 2024 (the deadline) will receive full consideration. Applications will then be considered on a rolling basis until funding is exhausted.

To receive funding through this particular opportunity, applicants must be affiliated with a mathematical institution in the Americas, outside of the US and Canada.

Applicants are required to provide basic professional data and to upload a curriculum vitae and letter of intent. Applications will be reviewed by a multinational committee, and notification of awardees will begin by October 1, 2024.

As noted on the MCA2025 website, different opportunities for participant support may target different constituencies based on the location or focus of the sponsor and may focus on (i) local expenses in Miami, (ii) congress registration, (iii) travel to and from Miami, or (iv) some combination thereof. In particular, participants applying through this program may also be eligible for other opportunities.
