What & When: The AWM workshop will be organized by Women in Operator Algebras and Women in Groups, Geometry, and Dynamics and will take place at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Seattle, WA January 8 - 11, 2025.  The workshop will include a reception, luncheon and a mentoring session where workshop participants will have the opportunity to meet with other women and non-binary mathematicians at all stages of their careers. With funding from NSF,  AWM will provide partial travel support to selected graduate students for their participation in the AWM Workshop. Furthermore, the Diversity Committee of the Mathematical Sciences Institutes sponsors all poster presenters to attend a week-long workshop of the presenter's choice (restrictions apply) at one of the participating Mathematical Sciences Institutes. 

Eligibility: The Poster Session is open to all areas of research; graduate students working in areas related to operator algebras or in areas related to groups, geometry, and dynamics are especially encouraged to apply. To be eligible for selection and funding, a graduate student must have made substantial progress towards their thesis. 

All applications should include: 

  • a title and abstract for the proposed poster in the form required for AMS Special Session submissions for the Joint Mathematics Meetings 
  • area of mathematics research
  • a curriculum vitae 
  • one letter of recommendation from your thesis advisor

It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure that letter of recommendation is submitted by August 15, 2024.
