Program Description:
program Description
The summer school is part of an NSF-FRG collaboration on Fluid Dynamics and computer assisted proofs. It will consist of 3 courses over 6 days on the Mathematics of fluids, taught by some of the organizers and their postdocs, as well as round table discussions regarding careers in Mathematics. The goal of the NSF-FRG project is to integrate theoretical proofs, numerical analysis, and machine learning to investigate interesting solutions of the classical fluid equations. The summer school courses will include (1) a theoretical introduction to the mathematics of the Euler and the Navier-Stokes equations, (2) an introduction to numerical methods, including neural networks, as a tool to discover interesting solutions of differential equations, and (3) an introduction to computer-assisted proofs. The courses will be accessible to advanced undergraduate students and first year graduate students. When and Where: Princeton University, August 10-17, 2025 Organizers: Tristan Buckmaster, Javier Gomez-Serrano, Alexandru Ionescu, Hao Jia, Ching-Yao Lai.
