An REU program “Modern Topics in Pure and Applied Mathematics" will be held at the University of Maryland in the Summer of 2024. Ten to twelve undergraduate students will be recruited. The REU information is found on the website: https://www-math.umd.edu/outreach/summer-reu.html

The following two research projects be offered:

Project 1. Interactions between convex geometry and complex geometry: https://www.math.umd.edu/~mariakc/REU2024Darvas.html. Faculty leader: Prof. Tamas Darvas https://www.math.umd.edu/~tdarvas/index.html.

Project 2. Harmonic analysis meets machine learning: https://www.math.umd.edu/~mariakc/REU2024Czaja.html. Faculty leader: Prof. Wojciech Czaja https://www.math.umd.edu/~czaja/.

Program dates: June 2 — July 26, 2024

Application deadline: February 20, 2024

Eligibility: This program is funded by the National Science Foundation and is open to US citizens or permanent residents who are current undergraduate students majoring in mathematics at any US college or university and will remain undergraduate students at least till December 2024.
