In this program, undergraduates spend 8 weeks doing research work in discrete math. We focus on combinatorics, discrete probability, and theoretical computer science. Each participant is closely mentored by an active researchers. We are based in the Math department of CUNY's Baruch College, located at the heart of Manhattan. We are looking for ambitious undergraduates who are strongly motivated to produce a research paper. That is, students who wish to work hard during the summer to achieve this goal. The participants will also receive training in topics such as giving talks, writing proofs, and applying to grad school. We keep supporting the participants as they continue with their studies and careers. Another goal of the program is to create a supportive and accepting community of people who are enthusiastic about mathematics. People who would continue to support and encourage each other in future years. This community also includes participants from previous summers. Women and students from underrepresented minorities are highly encouraged to apply. See our webpage for details such as stipends, dates, the mentors, research topics, who is eligible to apply, and the papers produced in previous years. Unless there is an unexpected and significant deterioration in the pandemic situation, the program will run in person. Due to CUNY's vaccine mandate, participants must be vaccinated before attending the program. |
