The Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University will be offering a funded Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Mathematics during the 2021-2022 academic year. The Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Mathematics is a certificate program that offers students who have received Bachelor’s degrees a year of training and preparation for entering a PhD program. The main goal of the program is to prepare students to be successful in graduate studies in mathematics or applied mathematics and to experience the environment of graduate school. In this program students will take 4 courses, have teaching assignments in undergraduate courses , get ample mentoring from the department’s faculty and graduate students, attend conferences, and receive professional development to aid in applying for graduate programs (or jobs, if necessary). Applicants must submit an application (that can be found at www.mathpostbac.org), transcripts, a personal statement, and at least 2 letters of recommendation. Underrepresented minorities, women, veterans, and nontraditional students who want to go back to school are encouraged to apply. We will begin review of applications March 15th and continue until all places are filled. The number of funded positions is subject to the availability of funds. |
