The Brin Mathematics Research Center (brinmrc.umd.edu) is a research center that sponsors activity in all areas of pure and applied mathematics and statistics. The Brin MRC is part of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Maryland, College Park. A Summer School on Fluid Dynamics will be held in the Brin MRC, July 17, 2023 - July 21, 2023. The purpose of this summer school is to offer graduate students and young researchers a number of crash courses related to the analysis of a certain class of PDEs arising in fluid mechanics. We invited a number of world-renowned experts in the field, who each will give a 4 lecture series over the course of one week, talking about state-of-the-art tools and highlighting the main ideas used in recent developments in fundamental PDEs of fluid mechanics. In particular, ideas used in analyzing models such as incompressible Euler, Navier-Stokes, and various active scalars will be overviewed. In addition, the summer school will include a mini-symposium, where participants will be encouraged to speak about their own research. We would like to solicit applications for participation in the summer school. Participants in the Brin MRC summer school will receive funds to assist with their travel and local expenses. The Brin MRC does not reimburse visa fees.
Application materials: Please provide a current CV. Graduate students and postdocs should arrange for one letter of recommendation, and give a statement about how the summer school will benefit their research. The statement should include a commitment to attend the summer school at its entirety. For best consideration please apply by March 20, 2023. We encourage early career mathematicians from all over the world to apply. For questions email brinmrc@umd.edu.
