Think you might be interested in graduate school?

Apply for a one-week Graduate School Preview in Mathematical Biology. This program will give students an exciting preview of research and graduate school in mathematics applied to the life sciences. The program is hosted by the University of Utah Mathematics Department, funded by the National Science Foundation, and runs July 24-28, 2023.

During the week, participants will work on a research project mentored by a Utah faculty member and a PhD student. Possible research topics include optimal medication dosing, disease spread, extreme statistics in biology, allometry, metabolism and body weight regulation, cancer initiation, cancer treatment, neural communication, and population dynamics in a changing environment. The program is designed for undergraduates interested in applied mathematics and planning to graduate in 2024 or 2025. No specific mathematical or biological background is required.

In addition to working on a research project, participants will attend research talks and tutorials by Utah faculty and PhD students, learn about careers in mathematics, and hear from graduate student panels about applying to graduate school and life as a graduate student.

This program takes place at the University of Utah. Travel, lodging, and food are provided by the program.

Only US citizens or permanent residents are eligible. Applications completed before April 1st will receive full consideration.
