Join us this summer for a new eight-week Markov Chains REU at the department of mathematics at UConn.

Dates: Monday 06/04/2018 through  Friday 07/27/2018

In this program
  • We will explore the rich and fascinating theory and ubiquitous applications of Markov Chains, and will tackle some real research problems.
  • We will have regular weekly guest speakers and mini-courses, as well as regular recreational math sessions.
  • We will work on scientific communication, teamwork skills and technical skills (writing proofs, LaTeX, creating simulations).
  • We will work on grad school applications, and will followup and support participants after the program.
The program is organized by Dr. Iddo Ben-Ari and is generously funded by a grant from the National Security Agency.

Funding is available for US citizens or permanent residents. Funding includes travel expenses, room and board, and a stipend of $2,500.  Members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
