The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, with NSF support, is proud to announce the inaugural edition of the Sam Houston State Research Experiences in Mathematics Program.
Twelve students will be involved in the program, which will run for a 9-week period from June 2, 2014 to August 1, 2014. We will offer students a broad base of possible projects chosen from Abstract Algebra, Functional Analysis, and Mathematics Education (detailed project descriptions can be found on our webpage). Applications from all students are welcome, and we especially welcome applications from students from under-represented groups. A completed application consists of items listed on our Coversheet which includes a request for two letters of reference from faculty members familiar with your work, an unofficial transcript of all college work completed, a separate list of all Mathematics Courses taken with course grades, and a statement of 500 words or less outlining your interest in the Program and how you think participation will benefit your future professional development. We would also like you list from 1 (hight) to 3 (low) your interest in the three project areas described above. Deadline for receipt of materials is March 5, 2014. Point of Contact for all questions regarding the program is Professor Scott Chapman (email@example.com).
