Grant Program for the 2021 Virtual
Mathematical Congress of the Americas (MCA)

The AMS is administering a program, along with funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), to provide partial support to attend the 2021 Virtual Mathematical Congress of the Americas (MCA 2021), scheduled for July 19-23, 2021.

Applications are being accepted from the following:
  • Full-time graduate students in mathematical sciences (who have not yet received a PhD)
  • Early-career mathematical scientists (who received a PhD on or after July, 2015)
  • Mid-career mathematical scientists (post-tenure, who received a PhD prior to July, 2015)
  • Special session speakers at MCA 2021
  • Special session organizers at MCA 2021

Women and members of U.S. groups underrepresented in mathematics are especially encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to early career mathematicians. AMS Employees are not eligible.

This funding will cover the MCA registration fee plus a stipend of up to $250, for a total award no greater than $330. The stipend is intended to assist in offsetting conference-related expenses that will allow the awardee a more focused meeting participation, which otherwise would not be possible.

Awardees are responsible for their own meeting registration and will submit the registration receipt plus a statement of how the stipend funds were used following the conclusion of the Congress. Reimbursement will be through a voucher process.

This program is open to U.S. mathematicians only (U.S. mathematicians are those who are affiliated with a U.S. institution/organization, and who must be affiliated with a U.S. institution/organization at the time of the Congress).

All information currently available about the MCA 2021 program, organization and registration procedure is located on the MCA 2021 website.
