PRIMES-USA is year-long math research program for high school juniors (or home schooled students of the same age) residing in the United States but outside the Greater Boston area. The students work on original research projects in mathematics provided by MIT faculty. Projects are mentored by MIT graduate students via teleconferencing, using software and hardware tools for online collaboration, or by local mentors chosen by PRIMES. High school students residing in the Greater Boston area may apply to MIT PRIMES, a local research and reading program program in mathematics, computer science, and computational biology. Students residing outside the United States are not eligible for MIT PRIMES or PRIMES-USA. To get research experience, we recommend them to join CrowdMath, a massive online collaborative year-long research project open to all high school and college students around the world (a joint program with the Art of Problem Solving). Admission Decisions Admission decisions will be based on all components of your application. We expect to release the decisions in early January 2021. Due to the large volume of applications, we will not be able to comment on individual applications or release individual scores. Solutions to the Math Problem Set will be posted in January 2021. |
