The AWM Research Symposium 2017 Poster Session

Open to: Early career women in the mathematical sciences

Application deadline: January 25, 2017

The Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) invites early-career women to give a poster presentation at AWM Research Symposium 2017 at the University of California, Los Angeles April 8-9, 2017. This meeting will also feature 4 plenary talks, 19 special sessions on a wide range of topics in pure and applied mathematics, math history and math education, a Wikipedia edit-a-thon, a banquet, and opportunities for discussion and networking.

Funding: AWM has received funding from the National Security Agency (NSA) to offer partial support for graduate students who present posters. Note: funding from NSA is restricted to US citizens. A separate funding form will be provided to eligible applicants.

Eligibility: Applications are welcome from women who have received their PhDs within approximately the last five years and from graduate students who have made substantial progress on their doctoral thesis.

All applications should include • a cover letter, • a title and brief abstract (no more than 1 or 2 paragraphs) of the proposed poster, • a curriculum vitae, and • a *brief* letter of recommendation from a faculty member or research mathematician who knows the applicant’s research. In particular, a graduate student should have a letter of recommendation from her thesis advisor.

Late applications and/or recommendation letters cannot be accepted. Decisions on applications are expected to be made by February 15, 2017.
