|AWM and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) established the annual Sonia Kovalevsky Lecture to highlight significant contributions of women to applied or computational mathematics. This lecture is given annually at the SIAM Annual Meeting. In 2017, the meeting will be in Pittsburgh, PA. The lectureship may be awarded to anyone in the scientific or engineering community whose work highlights the achievements of women in applied or computational mathematics.
This is a jointly awarded prize (AWM-SIAM).
By agreement, AWM and SIAM pay for the winner's expenses to travel to the SIAM meeting and also local expenses.
Nominations for this award are solicited. Nominations will remain active for a total of two years (one year beyond the initial nomination).
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: Letters of nomination should include an outline of the nominee's contributions to applied or computational mathematics, a list of some of her most important research papers, and a citation of about 100 words that may be read when introducing the speaker. The nominator should fill out their contact information on the MathPrograms cover sheet.
