ABOUT THE AWARD In January 2016 the Executive Committee of the Association for Women in Mathematics established the AWM Dissertation Prize, an annual award for up to three outstanding Ph.D. dissertations presented by female mathematical scientists and defended during the 24 months preceding the deliberations for the award. The Prizes will be given for those dissertations deemed most outstanding by the award committee. The award is intended to be based entirely on the dissertation itself, not on other work of the individual. CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2017 DISSERTATION PRIZE To be eligible for the award a graduate student must have defended her dissertation within the last two years (October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2016). She must either be a US citizen or have a school address in the US. The Prizes will be presented at the AWM Reception and Awards Presentation at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in Atlanta, GA, January 2017. The nomination should include: a one to three page letter of nomination highlighting the exceptional mathematical research presented in the dissertation; a curriculum vitae of the candidate not to exceed three pages; two letters supporting the nomination and a copy of the dissertation.
