. Eight research teams will be formed, each team consisting of a senior
mentor, two younger mathematicians (advanced graduate students or young
professionals) based in Latin America and two younger mathematicians (advanced
graduate students or young professionals) based in the U.S.
. Teams will be convened by the various Special Sessions at the Joint Meeting
in December around a research problem of common interest articulated as part of the
Special Session.
. Team mentors will frame the continuing contact and collaboration of their
research teams throughout 2011.
Travel awards will be made if funding is approved by the National Science Foundation. Pending NSF funding, travel and living expenses during the Joint
Meeting will be covered for selected applicants. Registration fees will not be covered. Funding will be limited to U.S. citizens or individuals connected to U.S. institutions. Travel must be booked on U.S.-flag carriers if available.
