The Brin Mathematics Research Center (brinmrc.umd.edu) is a research center that sponsors activity in all areas of pure and applied mathematics and statistics. The Brin MRC is part of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Maryland, College Park.

A Summer School on Partial Hyperbolicity will be held in the Brin MRC, May 30, 2023 - June 9, 2023. Partial and non uniform hyperbolicity were introduced about 50 years ago and provide a powerful tool for understanding statistical properties of dynamical systems, especially in high dimensions.Recent years saw powerful applications of these theories to chaos theory, rigidity theory, geometry, and number theory. The goal of the school is to describe the recent progress in these areas. Areas covered in the school include statistical properties, spectral methods, as well as applications to rigidity theory and mathematical physics.

We would like to solicit applications for participation in the summer school. Participants in the Brin MRC summer school will receive funds to assist with their travel and local expenses. The Brin MRC does not reimburse visa fees.

Application materials: Please provide a current CV. Graduate students and postdocs should arrange for one letter of recommendation, and give a statement about how the summer school will benefit their research. The statement should include a commitment to attend the summer school at its entirety. For best consideration please apply by March 20, 2023. We encourage early career mathematicians from all over the world to apply. For questions email brinmrc@umd.edu.
