Johnson & Johnson Corporation has created several summer internship positions in data science for participants of the Women and Mathematics Program.  The position will be virtual and interns will receive a stipend to be determined upon acceptance for the position.  Only Women and Math alumni who have attended a WAM program or new applicants who must attend the upcoming year's program and who are US citizens are eligible for the internships. Internship dates are estimated to be June - August of 2021

Position Description: The candidate will work with colleagues in Data Sciences & Data Management and partner with key businesses across Janssen to help in applying advanced analytics to answer business questions related to projects in one of the key focus areas of the group (Machine Learning, Privacy and Patient De-identification Analytics, Real World Evidence, Big Data Analytics or Semantic Integration & Business Insights, Data Management). He/She will be a full member of a project team to help connect with other data scientists, data engineers, and business partners to gather requirements around a critical business need, and also act in a primary role as a trusted primary IT partner. He/She will collaborate with subject matter experts from the business and use their feedback to create and iterate on data solutions. Required Skills • Strong understanding of Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Privacy Engineering, Computational Biology, Genomics, or related field. • Strong communication and presentation skills. • Proficiency in one or more of the following: R, RShiny, Python, SQL, C, C++, Java, Perl • Experience with data wrangling, transformations, visualization, modeling, and analysis. • Familiarity with doing computations and analyses on large datasets. • Experience building population statistics to compare to the prevalence of elements in the analysis dataset is preferred. • Familiarity in communication of methods and results to business partners is preferred. • Experience working in a data warehouse environment with exposure to INFORMATICA, Redshift and Teradata is preferred. • Knowledge of health outcomes databases (claim, EMR/EHR, survey, observation studies) is a plus. • Understanding of clinical data model/standards/vocabularies such as MedDRA, SNOMED, CDISC, CDM and RxNORM is a plus. • Experience with web development (HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, etc…) is a plus. • Coursework or background in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical engineering and other life sciences is a plus.
