Program Description:

The AMS, with funding from a private gift, will be accepting applications for partial travel support for doctoral students (at North American institutions) who plan to attend one of the Spring 2023, AMS Sectional Meetings.

Each grant, if awarded, will provide $250 in partial support of attendance at one of the following spring 2023 Sectional Meetings:

March 18-19, 2023, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA
April 1-2, 2023, Virtual, hosted by the American Mathematical Society--no funding available
April 15-16, 2023, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH
May 6-7, 2023, California State University, Fresno, Fresno, CA

It is the intention of the AMS to encourage each student's home institution to match the funds provided in support of the travel. Applications will be accepted only from doctoral students in mathematics. No person may receive a sectional meeting travel grant more than once.

The deadline for submitting applications is November 18, 2022 11:59pm EASTERN TIME. Awards or decline notifications will be made by December 31, 2022. Payment will only be made after a completed travel voucher (provided to awardees by the AMS) is received following the travel, along with the documentation specified on the voucher.

Please note reference letters are neither required nor allowed. Applying for this travel grant requires institutional authorization to be attached to your application. Please give the email address of the individual at your institution who is your advisor, department chair, administrator or other faculty member capable of verifying your status. When you submit this application and have the "send email on submit?" checked, an email will be sent to that person to authorize your application.
